  • By using the current Transaction Log file (.TLG) and a copy of your company log file (.QBW.adr) you can recreate the lost transaction.

OR

  • With the copy of your Company file and the Transaction file you can recreate all the transactions barring the last few hours.
How To Recover QuickBooks Data From Hard Drive

Using the current Transaction Log File (.TLG) and Company Log File (.QBW.adr)

  • On the desktop create a new folder named QBTest.
  • Locate the folder where the company file is saved and open it.
    Note: 
    You can see the location of the company file on the product Information screen and the number of Company Window as well.
  • On the QBTest folder that you have saved on the Desktop paste the .tlg file of your company after copying it.
  • Locate the QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery folder and open it.
    Note: 
    It should be in the same location as the company file.
  • On the QBTestfolder paste the .QBW.adr file after copying it. In the QBTest folder now you will have a QBW.adr and a .tlg file.
  • Open the QBTest folder and then on the .QBW .adr file do a right click. Select the option Rename.
  • On the file delete the .adr from the end.
  • Now open QuickBooks.
  • Go to the QBTest folder and open the company file that you have saved there. Now use the account register to confirm that all the transactions are there.
  • To make sure that the integrity of the company file run verify utility.
  • After the checks if you see that the company file is good then you should move the damaged company file to a different location. After that move the copy from the QBTest to the original location.

Using .QBW.adr (Company File) and .TLG.adr (Transaction Files) Files

  • On the desktop create a new folder named QBTest.
  • Locate the folder that saves your company file. Open it.
  • From there locate the folder of QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery and open it.
  • On the QBTest folder paste both .TLG.adr and .QBW .adr files after copying them.
  • Click on the QBTest folder to rename it. From the end of the file remove the .adr. Hence on the QBTest folder you will now have a .qbw and .tlg files.
  • Now open the QuickBooks.
  • Go to the QBTest folder and open the company file that you have saved there. Now use the account register to confirm that all the transactions are there.
  • To make sure that the integrity of the company file run verify utility.
  • After the checks if you see that the company file is good then you should move the damaged company file to a different location. After that move the copy from the QBTest to the original location.
