Reset QuickBooks Default Admin Password

If you’ve forgotten your “QuickBooks default admin password“, then don’t worry. Intuit has provided many methods through which you can reset your password.

The method you choose will depend on the amount of information you have about the account and access to the registered email address. The admin password is the one for which you don’t need a username. You’ll be prompted for the same when you launch QuickBooks on your desktop.

Resetting the Admin Password

The following steps will work for QuickBooks 2019 and earlier versions:

  • Launch QuickBooks on your desktop
  • Click on I forgot my password
  • Type in the following information in the form provided:
    • License Number – You can hit F2 to see the license information for your version of QuickBooks
    • Registered email address, name, phone number, and zip code – This information is available through the Customer Account Management Portal.
  • Click on Ok.
  • Go to the registered email address. You’ll get a code for a password reset.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions provided by QuickBooks to create a new admin password.

Note: Sometimes, the password reset email ends up in the spam folder. Please check your spam folder, if you don’t find the email in your inbox.

If you don’t remember the registered information and have forgotten your CAMPS (customer account management Portal) password, then you can retrieve it via the registered phone number or email address. After resetting the CAMPTS password, you can reset the password for the QuickBooks admin account.

The following steps can be used to reset the admin password in QuickBooks 2020.

  • Launch QuickBooks on your desktop
  • Select I forgot my password
  • Click on the Dropdown list
  • Select an email address. A password reset token will be sent to this email
  • Enter the token that was sent to the email address
  • Type in the new password for the admin.

Resetting your password in QuickBooks 2020 is way easier than in any of the earlier versions. The earlier versions will prompt you for information about your registered email address, phone number, and name; however that isn’t the case with QuickBooks 2020.
