  2. Don’t forget to open your QuickBooks data file from your back office computer.
  3. Now open QuickBooks data files from your front register computer.
  4. Access the Open the data file over your network.
  5. Close the QuickBooks software from your back office computer.

Step 2: Configure Point of Sale with the suitable QuickBooks file.
For Version 10-12, follow the below steps

  1. Go to Point of Sale and select File.
  2. Select Preferences and got to Company.
  3. Choose the Financial preference.
  4. Tick mark on Use with QuickBooks Financial Software.
  5. Click on Set Up QuickBooks Connection Now.
  6. Follow the steps as prompted. However, make sure that the QuickBooks file at the mapped network drive is selected.
  7. Click on Next.
  8. Then select Finish.

For version 5-9, follow the below steps:

  1. Open Point of Sale.
  2. Select File.
  3. Go to Setup Interview.
  4. From the list, choose select Financial Exchange.
  5. Now click on Yes.
  6. After that click on Run QuickBooks Connection Wizard.
  7. Follow the steps as prompted. However, make sure that the QuickBooks file at the mapped network drive is selected.
  8. Once done, click on Next.
  9. And choose Finish.

For version 4, follow the below steps:

  1. Open Point of Sale.
  2. Go to File and select Setup Interview.
  3. From the list, choose Financial Exchange.
  4. Now click on Yes for opening the browsing window.
  5. From the Look in field choose mapped drive.
  6. Now double-click on your QuickBooks company file.
  7. As prompted, complete the Financial Exchange section.
  8. Click on Leave.
  9. Select Yes for saving the changes made.

For version 3, follow the below steps:

  1. Open the data file on your front register computer.
  2. Choose Company.
  3. Go to Set Up Users.
  4. Now click on Add User.
  5. After that enter your Point of Sale Remote for the User Name. however, do not assign a password.
  6. Click on Next.
  7. Choose All areas of QuickBooks.
  8. After that click on Next.
  9. On the Warning window, click on Yes. Then click on Finish.
  10. Now on the User List, select Close.
  11. Open Point of Sale.
  12. Click on Company. Then go to Interview.
  13. Now go to Financial Exchange. In case the browse window fails to launch:
    • Click on the button at the right of the Company File Name field.
    • Go to the Look in field and select the mapped drive.
    • Click on your QuickBooks company file.
  14. As prompted, fill in the required details in the Financial Exchange section.
  15. Now select Leave.
  16. Click on Yes for saving all the changes made.
  17. Initiate a Financial Exchange.
    •  Go to QuickBooks and select File.
    • Now choose Switch to Single User.
    • In Point of Sale, select Financial.
    • Click on Update QuickBooks.
