  • In case the service is not starting or there is an error 1053, then you have to select the Log On tab, then you have to Add the local administrator.

  • Then you should try to open the company file.
    • Open Command Prompt as administrator if you encounter error 4201, the instance name given was not recognized as acceptable by a WMI data provider.
    • Enter the command cd C:\Windows\System32\LogFile\sWMI.
    • Rename RtBackup to RtBackup2 by typing. Go to the next step if you receive an access denied error notice; otherwise, you have to go to step 12.
  • The Command Prompt option can be found under Start. Run as Administrator is the right-click menu option. If an administrator password or confirmation is requested, you can type it in or give the requested information.
  • Enter the following commands one at a time to have them run one after the other. (Remember to take care of the gap between the command and its parameter.)
    • takeown /f C:\windows\system32\logfiles\wmi\rtbackup cacls C:\windows\system32\logfiles\wmi\rtbackup /G administrators:F
  • Then you have to exit Command Prompt and reboot the computer.

Open Existing Company

  • You have to click Select an existing company if the recently used company has a UNC path (for example,\\server\company name)
  • In Windows Explorer, you have to browse to the company (for example C:\Sage 50 Data\)

Verify if the SAJ folder has a read-only attribute

  • You have to Close Sage 50.
  • Then you have to browse to the location where the company file is located.
  • With the extension SAJ you have to right-click the folder.
  • Then you have to select Properties.

  • First, you have to click Start, then you have to click Run, type regedit, and then you have to click OK

    • A data value of 35,000 is usually sufficient to keep service timing out.
    • To meet your specific startup needs, you can, however, reduce or increase this value.
    • Type 60000, for example, to wait 60 seconds before the service expires.
  • Lastly, you have to close Registry Editor, and then you have to restart the computer.

Method 5: DHCP Client

  • First, you have to select Administrative Tools and Services from the Control Panel.
  • Then you have to stop DHCP Client.
  • Now you have to start Sage 50 Database Connection Manager.
